This is my progress on my Quaker square this week.I am sorry the photo is such poor quality, I am just getting used to my new camera ( a touch too much flash there Butch!)
Despite the showers, I was out and about this week. I thought this inscribed tablet that I saw at Eggleston Abbey was just wonderful, especially when you consider it must be at least 600 years old!
I may just go back for a rubbing - when its dry.

How cool is that - to be so old and still readable. Is that a crown I see on the stone?
I love things like this! It would be great fun to go back for a rubbing. I would have loved doing one in an old chapel in The Cotswolds while I was there with my mother. What is the Quaker you are doing?

Fascinating tablet! I just love historical pieces:)
I visited England some years ago, and the biggest kick I got out of all the places I toured, were the cemeteries. Ghoulish as that may seem, I really enjoyed looking at the headstones. Some of those old beauties were almost works of art.
That's a very nice Quaker piece, Clare.
Those old inscriptions in churches and on gravestones are sometimes very impressive. My husband always takes pictures, too, when he sees some interesting ones.

Great to see your Quaker piece, Clare! It's coming along very beautifully. That gravestone reminds me of ancient ones from Sturbridge, Massachusetts, where I used to live. We did some rubbings and really had fun...then my DH got squeemish about hanging them in the house! :P I'm wishing you better luck with yours!! LOL
